So, you want to learn how to fly a Radio Controlled Aircraft. You have come to the right place!
If you have never flown before and would like to find out a bit more, the first thing to do is to contact the Secretary, and arrange a suitable time to meet someone at the flying field. To simply take a look, you are welcome to come out to the field and watch. While there, if you ask any of the members present they will try and assist you.
Most days of the week there is generally one or more instructors present at the field. Instructors can assist new members to learn to fly safely and to achieve their Bronze Wings. Bronze Wings are a minimum level qualification that recognises that you can safely fly your RC aircraft unassisted.
Before you rush out and buy a model, you should come out to the field and ask a few questions. One of the questions you may want to consider is what sort of model should I buy? All too frequently, we see people buy a model that is not suitable for learning how to fly. You want a high wing trainer as your first (and possibly 2nd) model.
A typical new Trainer type model, radio and basic field supplies will cost around $500-$650
